Expeditions
Our Short Term Trips
What to Expect
Expeditions range anywhere from a ten-day to a six-week trip in nations all over the world. Currently our expedition staff lead in remote and neglected areas across the Middle East, North Africa, Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, and South America. Each location has its own physical variables associated with finding and reaching the lost, but our team is equipped and ready to take you there by any means necessary.

Day to Day
Each day on expedition centers around evangelism, bringing the Gospel to people where they live, work, and gather. Your activities will often mirror the traditional activities of the men and women in the community, and you are highly encouraged to experience and take part in the culture around you. Team leaders are responsible for organizing and facilitating the structure of the team's activities each day. The schedule may include home-to-home or street evangelism, preaching in local or underground churches, participating in common cultural experiences while sharing beliefs, and hiking or driving to reach new areas.
Why Go with Overland?

Our Mission
Overland Missions is a global movement of bold, unwavering pioneers dedicated to reaching the most remote and neglected corners of the world with the life-changing message of Jesus. Guided by the power of the Holy Spirit and the belief that everyone is worthy of hearing the Gospel - we navigate tough terrain, build lasting relationships, and make long term disciples, who have been transformed by the finished work of Jesus.

Submit An Application
During your expedition, you will work to locate remote or neglected people in nations with limited or no Gospel presence. The relationships you will build on your expedition are often the door into an entire nation. Submitting your application is the first step into being part of a team that will do just that. Once submitted, a member of our Expeditions Staff will contact you directly.

Interview
Once your application has been submitted, a member of our Expeditions staff will contact you to schedule your interview. The interview is an opportunity for the Expedition Leader of the trip you applied for to get to know you, hear from you, and talk through expectations for the expedition. The interview is time for you and our team to discern together whether this trip is the right fit.

Fundraise
Fundraising is a key part of preparing for your expedition. You’ll invite others to partner with you in prayer and financial support, giving people the opportunity to invest in what God is doing through you in the nations. Our team will walk with you through the process and provide tools and guidance along the way.

What Are The Most Frequently Asked Questions?
The majority of our expeditions are purposed to expand into new locations. Although, if the work that is needed to create sustainable long-term ministry requires returning to an area, we will go back.
We work alongside ministry partners and translators that are able to translate your first language into the first language of the people we are ministering to. Working with a translator will be something that you cover during your expedition orientation led by your expedition leaders.
Your expedition leaders will walk you through everything that it takes to preach the gospel to the lost. The Holy Spirit inside of you is enough for the task at hand, and we will help lead and guide you in ministering to your fullest capacity! Whether you have never shared the gospel before, or you’ve led hundreds of people to Christ, there is a place for you on an expedition!
Whether your expedition is in Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Amazon, or anywhere else in the world, we will be preaching the Gospel. We’ll walk home-to-home or through city streets, telling people about Jesus and what He’s done for them. Some expeditions might have night meetings, soccer games, or kids ministry in order to gather the community together and preach the Word.
After your team leaves, our goal is to build sustainable ministry within the community that you reached through our full-time missionaries living in the area.
Each country has different entry requirements. Your expedition leader will walk you through the specifics of preparing to travel to the country of your expedition.
Overland has ministry in over 22 nations throughout Southeast Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa, the Middle East, and along the Amazon river. Expedition locations can change from year-to-year depending on the need. Check our website and other recruiting materials to see which locations we’ll be leading trips in this year!
Not a problem! Our team will coach you, encourage you, and pray for you along the way!
While some people choose to book their own airfare, it is not required or recommended. Our team will handle all logistics of your expedition, including booking your airfare alongside your teammates. All you need to do is raise the funds!
Your expedition leaders will cover all grocery shopping, restaurant planning, cooking, etc. while in the country. Depending on the country you are in, you may eat out at restaurants or eat food cooked over a fire. You might even have an opportunity to eat the local cuisine!
